Some brain regions retain enhanced ability to make new connections

Some brain regions in adults retain a childlike ability to establish new connections, potentially contributing to our ability to learn new skills and form new memories as we age, according to new research at the School of Medicine and the Allen Institute for Brain Sciences in Seattle. The senior author is Marcus Raichle, MD.

New College Prep Program recruiting first cohort

An innovative new initiative will bring 20 rising high school sophomores to the WUSTL campus for three summers. The students will live on the South 40, take classes for credit and craft their college essays. Courtney Brewster (right) will serve as program coordinator.

Interdisciplinary Environmental Clinic files amicus brief in U.S. Supreme Court​

Students and faculty in the Interdisciplinary Environmental Clinic at the School of Law have filed an amicus brief on behalf of air pollution scientists in an important environmental case before the U.S. Supreme Court. The case involves a challenge to the Environmental Protection Agency’s Cross-State Air Pollution Rule, which seeks to protect the health of citizens of downwind states by limiting air pollution that crosses state lines.

Bridges to close as part of I-64/Hwy 40 project

As part of an ongoing road construction project, the Tower Grove Avenue bridge over Interstate 64/Highway 40 will be closed for about two weeks, beginning today, Feb. 3. When the bridge reopens, it will remain open until March 7 (tentatively), when it and the Boyle Avenue bridge will be closed for demolition.

Nominate exceptional staffer for Gloria W. White award

Help the university recognize a staff member who goes above and beyond to help students, faculty or others in the WUSTL community by nominating him or her for the Gloria W. White Distinguished Service Award. The deadline to submit nominations is Feb. 21.
